This project has seen the conversion of pairs of 2 bedroomed houses into larger, modernised 4 bedroomed homes that will be available for rent in partnership with a housing association and a community based Construction Company. 3 of the 6 completed properties will be managed by a housing association with the remainder being managed by Sheffield City Council. It follows an earlier pilot scheme which converted 6 properties into 3, four bedroomed properties.

The Chaucer Buchanan District Centre proposals in the Southey Owlerton area of North Sheffield is an exciting and ambitious project which will provide access to a high quality service centre for existing and future residents of this pathfinder area. Centre
The project aims to develop the area around Chaucer Business and Enterprise College and Buchanan Road shops to create a new district centre which will include:
• A supermarket
• A library and learning centre
• A public square
• A health centre
• A learning disabilities resource centre
• Retail and residential units
Why is this needed?
As part of the Neighbourhood Strategies and masterplanning exercise for the Southey Owlerton area, local people identified that there was poor access to shops and good quality public services (for example, library, health services) in their community. The development at Chaucer will provide access to shops and services within the Southey Owlerton area.
