Rotherham

The HMR programme has been a great success for Rotherham, changing the look and feel of the town centre and helping to bring an additional £46.5 million of other public sector investment between 2004 and March 2009. This investment has supported some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in Rotherham.  HMR and Regional Housing Board investment has supported the building of 686 new homes in Rotherham, including 124 new apartments in the town centre with developments at College Street, Imperial Buildings, Old Market Street and Keppel Wharf.

New work has included the completion of phase 1 of the development at Canklow Wood, where 71 Eco Excellent terrace houses have been built in partnership with South Yorkshire Housing Association. Homes for rent and sale have also been built at The Moorings and Goodwin Avenue.

358 unsuitable homes across Rotherham were demolished, making way for new development on sites such as Denman Road and Shrewsbury in Rotherham West., with an additional 35 homes for older people built in Queensachre. 107 new homes and apartments have also been built on vacant sites across the town in collaboration with Rotherham’s Registered Social Landlord partners.
